THE SURVIVAL MOM

I’m a forty-something mother of two homes schooled children and wife to a busy, self-employed husband.  We live in the greater Phoenix area, also known as Hell’s Waiting Room!

I spent nine years as a classroom teacher, four years as a teacher mentor, and have had the same home-based sales business for over 17 years.  When I decided to teach preparedness classes, all those years of training and curriculum development came in handy!

I love Mexican food, a slightly messy house, my big ole white Tahoe, blogging and reading good spy thrillers.

Movin’ On Out Show

I grew up in a prepper family, it just wasn’t called prepping yet. Gardening, home canning, and all round just in case stockpiling were the norm in a small town just minutes away from the Canada/US border. After spending more than 20 years in the city, it’s time to get back to basics. With the hope of passing the prepper attitude onto my children, it’s out to a little house in the country to garden, explore alternative energy, solar cooking and all things prepper. Both learning & teaching will be the goals of this show...all with a Canadian twist.

About Phil801
I’m your typical Geek/Farmer/Mountain Man/Runner with 8 kids.My entire childhood was pretty much spent in one of two places: at a computer or out in the woods/mountains/caves. My father was a computer specialist in the Navy and has a Master’s Degree in Agronomy and my mother was raised by a hardcore Prepper. Growing up, we lived a preparedness lifestyle; from living off food storage to hunting regularly to gardening and living off the land. As the oldest of 7 children, I was greatly exposed to all this as my Dad enjoyed including me in his hobbies. Now as a father of 8 children, my wife and I live the Prepper lifestyle and are endeavoring to teach it to our kids. I definitely have a split lifestyle personality – living my day to day life as a gadget dependent enthusiast, working as Sr. Software Architect – to my after work lifestyle of being able to shed all the cares and needs of the world and disappear into the wilderness with just the pack on my back. I also enjoy long distance running and trail running. I served in the US Air Force for 4 years and was stationed for most of that at Hill AFB, UT. Currently I am an EMT, Utah Concealed Firearms Permit Instructor, an NRA Instructor and serve on the Utah County Search and Rescue Team.

For over five years, Hugh Vail, President of Tomorrow's Harvest has been passionate about preparing for the future. As Hugh followed natural and economic disasters, he realized that right now was the time to prepare for the storms ahead. As Hugh prepared, he felt a lack of food storage options that would be realistic in a case of emergency. He realized that people were frustrated with rotating food, throwing away food every five years, and that using tradition food storage would be miserable.

Hugh explored the outdoor, NASA, and boyscout world to see what they were using for long trips. This is where Hugh was introduced to the world of “freeze dried” food, and realized the value that this form of food would bring to emergency preparedness. This form of food processing extended shelf life, reduced the weight of the food, and still maintained the nutritional content and taste of the food. The best part of using this form of food storage is that adding water will create a meal that is complete, nutritious, and delicious. No one wants to be grinding wheat while the world is falling apart around them.

Hugh felt so passionate about providing easy, smart, food storage to everyone who is smart enough to prepare, he dedicated his life to it. Not only does he preside over Tomorrow's Harvest, he sponsors a preparedness radio, and is involved in community efforts to help people get prepared before there is a need. Preparedness is not just his business, it's his life.

Co Host: Mike Porenta is a food storage planner for Tomorrow's Harvest.  He is also the company's chief political and economic analyst.  He holds no degrees from any formal school and wears that fact as a badge of honor.  Mike has spent his life trying to understand the philosophies and operations of western society through endless hours of personal study, relying heavily on the wisdom of the Greatest Thinkers of all time.  He is currently being mentored by the fine people of George Wy the University.  Feel free to contact him via email at mike@tomorrowsharvest.com

John grew up in a rural area in the Pacific NW, learning from his parents, and grandparents on what it takes to survive in regards to farm animals, growing food, preserving, canning, bread making, making wine and more. John grew up being taught the skills of a woodsman, survivalist "as some call it" at the young age of 11 by his father who would drop him and his friend off in the woods every spring with a hatchet, a 22 rifle and a knife.

Johns father never considered himself a survivalist because to him this was a natural part of life that was taught to him by his grandfather. Today, you might call this a survivalist, but back then it was a way of life, and not just what some would call mans work but also cooking, sewing, and cleaning as well. He believes every person male or female needs to know how to survive.

John learned about animals, hunting, fishing, and tanning just to name a few skills, by doing!  He has studied survival in the woods, desert, hills and plains of America and not just pioneer ways but also Indian ways as well and now at 46 years of age he has started teaching others what their grandparents should have taught them. Founder of the Prepper Podcast Radio Network and Pioneer Living Survival.
